READ Matthew 14:22-33

Jesus has had a long day of ministry. He has been teaching all day and then decides to feed 5,000 men plus women and children with 5 loaves and 2 fish. He then sends His disciples away in a boat and goes away to pray, alone.

In the middle of the night Jesus decides He will catch up to His disciples. So, He takes off walking on top of the water. The disciples see Him and are afraid. Jesus calms them. Peter asks if He can come to Him on the water. Jesus says, “Come!” Peter steps out of the boat and begins to walk on the water. Peter sees the waves and wind and begins to doubt. He starts sinking. Jesus saves him, takes him back to the boat, and rebukes him for “little faith.”

Peter doubted Jesus. He had a clear Word of direction. He chose not to stay focused on Jesus and the Word He had given him. He looked at his circumstances and doubt filled his heart.

How about you? What has God spoke to you about doing through His Word? Are you walking in obedience or are you shrinking in fear. We are commanded to walk by faith and not by sight. I am not suggesting that you dream up what you want to do for God and then go do it. I am suggesting you getting alone with Him and find out what He wants you to do and then obey His voice in faith. Even if you don’t know how it will come about.

Manley Beasley once said, “Faith is believing that it is so, when it is not so, so it will be so, because God said so.” The key is that we believe God will bring about what He commands us to do. Faith must be mixed with obedience.

Dear God, Help me to hear Your voice today. Give me the faith to carry out what you say, in Jesus name, Amen.

Get alone with Him, find out what He wants you to do, and then obey. Devotions for Men on the @Real_Momentum App
