READ James 1:12

September 11, 2001 is the day of the worst attack on American soil when Islamic terrorists flew commercial airplanes into the World Trade Center buildings and the Pentagon while another one was headed for the White House and was heroically diverted by Americans who were passengers on that plane.  These heroes died to save the White House, and all who live and work there.  Over 3,000 Americans died that day at the hands of evil.

Immediately following these events, President George W. Bush said, “Great harm has been done to us.  We have suffered great loss.  And in our grief and anger we have found our mission and our moment.  Freedom and fear are at war.  The advance of human freedom – the great achievement of our time, and the great hope of every time – now depends on us.  Our nation – this generation – will lift a dark threat of violence from our people and our future.  We will rally the world to this cause by our efforts, by our courage.  We will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail!”

Erwin Lutzer said, “this should be our attitude regarding the war that rages within each of us who are Christ followers.”

Most of us ask God to conquer temptation for us by taking away our urge to sin.  We forget, however, that God wants to give us the ability to say ‘no’ despite our selfish desires.  Then, victory comes when we say ‘yes’ to God when everything within us is saying ‘no.’

There are only two references to the “crown of life” in the New Testament.  Revelation 2:10 speaks of this crown being given to those “willing to be faithful, even to the point of death.” Then, James 1:12 states that the “crown of life” will be given to those who “stood the test.”

Obviously, mastering our desires is equally as difficult as giving our lives to the gospel! We know that this war is between God and us but the battle ultimately spills over and engulfs our family and friends.  May God help us men step up, be found faithful when the attacks come, and bring glory to His Name.

Lord, I know that I face so many difficulties throughout the day and this day will be no different. Help me to rely upon You so that I may win. I want to stand approved after the tests that may come my way today, ultimately bringing You glory! Amen.

May God help us men step up, be found faithful when the attacks come, and bring glory to His Name. Share the @Real_Momentum App
