Eric Bolding, A Man of God (1965-2015)
READ: Malachi 2:13–16; Emphasis on 2:15
According to the Word of God when a man and a WOMAN marry they are no longer two but ONE. Made so by the same power that God exerted in the creation and the same power He exerted when He raised Jesus from the dead. The power of the Holy Spirit. A man and his wife are made in Oneness with each other by God. Jesus said, “So they are no longer two but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate.”
As a man we must go against everything innate within us and relinquish our prideful independence. Most of the time, especially as believers we cannot do this on our own. God Himself will have to intervene and yank this embedded demon from within us. It most likely will require a series of painful mistakes for God to work this out of us. I know from personal experience that EVERY single misstep and unwise decision that I have made as a husband and a father is when I have made the decision without any regard or input from the one that God has made me one with… My Wife!!
God has made you one with no one other than your wife. Proverbs 18:22 says, “He who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains favor from the LORD.” Move forward with nothing without being in ONENESS with your wife. Make no decision without being in ONENESS with your wife. If she doesn’t know about it don’t do it. If she’s not in it, God probably isn’t either. If God is going to speak to you through another human being it will most likely be her. Listen carefully. It will most likely be a whisper or a suggestion.
As the spiritual leader of the home you do have the ultimate responsibility but never forget that God has given you an invaluable helper! Relinquish your independence. God does not call us to domineer. He calls us into Oneness. The most dynamic and powerful tool of evangelism on the earth is a man and his wife operating in Oneness of the Spirit! Church starts and ends at home!
God help me to relinquish my prideful independence and come into true spiritual union with my wife. Make me into the man that you would have me to be for my family that You have given me. What an awesome privilege and what an awesome responsibility. Help me Lord because I cannot do this without You!
1 Peter 3:7 Likewise, husbands, live with your wives in an understanding way, showing honor to the woman as the weaker vessel, since they are heirs with you of the grace of life, so that your prayers may not be hindered.
